    Default Sunset at Great Falls

    12-24 mm at 14 mm
    1/10 sec at f16
ISO 1000 ( should have lowered this)
2 stop graduated neutral density filter used to hold back the sky

I took this at Great Falls of the Potomac Park outside Wash DC. It was hard to believe this place existed just outside DC.

Lovely colors in the sky, love the huge rock in the middle but not sure about the bushes in the foreground. Agree about the iso setting, could be lower. Also might try to rotate the image a bit CW.

Hi Bob - lovely scene, the colours in the sky set it of nicely, does seem like it needs some CW rotation. agree with your comments re the ISO. The foreground bushes are a little distracting - not sure there was anything you could have done about them though.
    Keep em coming :)

    Hi Bob,
The ISO factor already touched upon...I like the wide angle perspective, and the color rendition is very good...looking forward to your next one...

What an amazing place, and you captured that, but i have to agree with the comments above about the RG and the CW rotation. Beautiful:)

Lovely scene Would work on the sky and adjust mid tones for a little more pop and contrast Rocks look pretty good but can warm just a bit, depends on the mood you want I like the density changes in the foliage !!!!

Very nice scene. I tried scrolling and getting a lot of the sky off and it makes the foreground a lot more impressive.

well composed scene. it is hard to believe this is so close to urban. agree some cw rotation will help, but working the sky will impact huge. lots to like here!!

    Hi Bob,
For the ISO 1000....this looks pretty good but agree with the self assesment that a lower one would have helped and not affected much. I'm glad you used the grad ND too....but in this case you probably needed to stack 2 for the tonal difference.....but no worries....still workable! I did about 12 selective levels layers birnging out the FG areas and also did 2 on the sky as well as a multiplied layer (check Robert A's tutorial in the landscape forum). A bit of contrast tweak and being a bit anal.....some dodging and burning. I had to save this at 53 quality.....but you should be able to tweak this to something close!
Did I mention I love the comp!!!......the seperation of the water and the larger area in the middle leading us to the distant sunset......very nicely composed! I may have preferred it w/o the branches in the FG...but taking Alfreds idea...I used one of the levels layers to lighten it a touch. Let me know what you think.
