Default Any good flat screen monitors out there?

    Hi Everyone,

I have a Dell P.C. with a ViewSonic 22" monitor. I use Photoshop CS3 and I would like to upgrade my monitor to a flat screen about the same size. Does the concern for flat screens still exist for photographers and the color issues that existed some years back? Do you use a flat screen? My budget would be between $1000 and $1200. Can I get something that I won't be disappointed in for that money? I will also be upgrading my computer in the near future, just taking it one step at a time.

    Thanks for your help :)

I have a 24" HP http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16824176104 which is good in terms of color accuracy after calibration. Eizo screens are said to have good color response too you can get this one for $999 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16824136049
NEC is also popular for color-critical applications.
The best screen that I have used (for lab applications) is this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16824176106 Back light is LED and it has 30Bit color response, but it has a steep price.

I got the NEC LDC2490WUXi (there's also a WUXi2 which is a bit different). It's larger than you mentioned at 24", but if you also get the Spectraview II software to calibrate, it does a wonderful job. It has built in hardware calibration cability, which reportedly does a better job.

I finally got rid of my old 21" CRT once I started using this -- I've had large LCD's for years, but they never had the right response for photo editing.
