    Default Least Sandpiper

The forecast for the shore was not exactly promising and I checked out a local pond instead. Nearby I found a flooded field with a few shorebirds, which was a nice surprise. After a few minutes they got comfortable with my presence.

    Axel:

Sharp, nicely exposed, pose, catchlight. Still water makes the reflection work well.

In a perfect world, I would prefer no grass, but it works as is.

    Cheers

Axel, Beautiful reflection and the water under the bird looks nice. I like the soft green tones. Nice exposure and details. Glad you were able to find this!

Superb! Can't fault it. I like the grass too. I also think the ripples are a bonus.

A loverly image of a bird in fresh juvenal plumage. The birds a JBWR were well more worn than this beauty.

You have a very pleasing image here, Axel. The blades of grass definitely add quite a bit of interest, and it's always nice to see environment included. Thanks for sharing. Marina

Perfect comp, and I like the angle of capture. Well exposed, showing good detail and colours. Its always great to see a full reflection. I dont mind the small strands of grass, but Im surprised that you left them in.;)

    Hi Axel,
Nice clean image - great details and light. Sandpipers that have gotten in my way recently all seem to have muddy beaks or they are wet and have lots of highlights. Do you typically clean these all off or is this a particularly well groomed Sandpiper?

    Thanks,

    Gerald

Thanks, Gerald! The birds in this area looked very clean, I guess it's due to the kind of soil/mud what they look like.

Very pleasing image, love the bird and the reflection, nice clean BG.
The plants add to the composition here. Very interesting image of a shorebird
with the green water and the grass.
    Like it a lot!

Superb photo Axel. The ripples take it to the next level. I'd have loved a little more room at the top. We see too many good photos on this forum...but this one is great.
