    Default spotted owl

    D700
    70-200mm f2.8 VR with 1.7TC
    340mm
    ISO 500
    f7.1 at 1/400s
    Manual mode
    Auto white balance
    handheld

Change White Balace, highlight protection to save whites, lighten the right side, saturate eye a bit then sharpen.
About 17% of original, really need to get long focal lenght telephoto lens.

Not sure what speices this owl this, maybe a spotted owl.
Been walking around trying to get the sun behind my back and a clear shot without branches getting in the way. Too bad these owls are very shy during the late afternoon where light is perfect.

All comments and suggestions are welcome.

That looks like one of our Florida Burrowing Owl's.. But you are in the wrong part of the globe for that..

For that much crop eyes are still sharp. I like the needels on the side they frame the picture. I would crop some off the bottom. thanks for sharing

    Hi Thanaboon,
I like the composition, image and capture...your little guy is framed naturally by the pine needles. I too would recommend taking about 1/4 from the bottom...and also selective sharpening the eyes just a little more...good show, looking forward to your next one...

Hi - love the direct eye contact and the stare - Would crop a little from the bottom - setting doesnt bother me.
    Good show :)

I understand is a large crop but ideally you would take some from left and bottom, would move owl to bottom right corner and out of the middle (also make larger in frame)

...does look like one of our little owls !!!

Love the shot, can you fill the frame more and tighten the crop. Too much neg space on top - great eyes - well done.

Nice detail for HH shot and a 380 FL, might open up 1/2 stop to boost shutter if you have it due to TC.

Hi Thanaboon, I agree with Al and Jeff on the cropping, even with the big crop you've managed to hold pretty good detail. It's a very nice "in your face" look you've captured. Well done!
