    Default Sandpiper?

I usually don't photograph shorebirds (I do live in New Mexico, afterall), but had the chance to watch and photograph flocks of these small birds along a small lake shoreline. I'm fairly certain this is a sandpiper, but I would like some help identifying which type. The birds were 8-10 inches in length.

    I'd say it's a Baird's Sandpiper.

I agree with Lana- at least this bird matches quite nicely the juvenile Baird's pictured in Sibley.

    Any other ideas?

No other ideas, I too think it is Baird's.
It is interesting to note the prominent white patch in
the front supraloral region. Not positive ID, but more likely to
be seen in Baird's than other sandpipers in NA.

Another vote for Baird's. Those extremely long primaries are a key field mark. They are so long that they will often cross.
