    Default Barn Swallow... Bif.

Catch a swallow by the tail... :D

Very true... and obvious... thx and done...:)

Sorry work and all... i used a Canon MKIIn with a 400mm f5.6 mounted on a Bushhawk... camera settings were 1/1000 sec @f 7.1 with an iso of 400. I did use a flash with a better beamer @ 1/16 output and used a single center point for focus.

The swallows were nesting under a walking bridge... so it was an overhead shoot. I just rode the railing and tracked them coming out from underneath the bridge... sometimes they would circle back which gave a great photo op.

    Hi Euan,
    welcome to BPN!
Beautiful pose, wing position,bg.....I would prefer to see a bit more room to the top/bottom and to clone the white line on right/bottom

That's a nice first post :) Lovely clear shot and dof and I'm always intrigued by the aerofoil use of the various feather groups. The obvious points are that a vertical crop might be more appropriate and removing that rectangular light bg patch would help.

    Edit: nice re-post!

18 mths to post your first image!
Well worth the wait I guess, of this difficult species to nail.
Well done, sharp, great exposure, a bit more room top & bottom and clone out annoying BG would really add to this fine capture.

Lovely flight shot. I especially like the splayed tail feathers.

You certainly nailed this very quick character. Great angle, sharp where it counts, and you have exposed the colours nicely. Its best to post your camera, lens, and tech info, so we can see what settings you used.

    Welcome,

Agree with that, from the comment I understood that the image is a repost, I would much rather prefer to see the OP and the RP, some of Manos's and Colin's comment make no sence when you see only the RP.

    A fine image,
I like the fan tail, BG, light and Comp.
Even though the face looks sharp, it seems that the focus is on the right wing / shoulder.
Waiting to see more of your images.

Welcome to BPN and very cool first post! I haven't seen the original post, either but like the wing position, exposure control, pose and BG. I would only remove two of the three catchlights. Keep them coming!

Yes, Euan, please tell us about how you created this image. Lens, camera, flashes, situation. How did you focus? Was this created with multiple flashes and a trigger? (Way to spot the mulitple highights Axel.)

Please also post the original post as a repost. Thanks on all counts.

Thanks Euan. You did a great job of getting rid of the bright spot in front of the wing and the crop is right on. Can you tell us about the situation please? Was the bird coming to a perch or a nest? Or were they just flying about.
