I like the pose and coloration of the bird. The perch is too large which blocked the light from illuminating the undersides of its tail. The light itself looks bright and I would consider toning down the limb itself a tad. A crop from the right is in order to move your subject from the center of the frame. I also see a slight halo surrounding the kestrel. Although I like your © it sort of distracts and would probably reduce its opacity so as to not be so prominent.

    Edgar:

I think Mike hit the important points well(light, shadows, perch, halo). The logo is def. distracting.

The positioning of the subject in a vertical format images is not quite as much of an issue re: centering, but I certainly wouldn't mind a crop as suggested by Mike.

    Thanks for sharing.

I like the HA and the excellent view of the feet.

With respect to the two posters above, they missed some important points (while covering many). The image is over-saturated (esp. the electric blue sky), the perch looks a bit over-sharpened, and the image as a whole is too contrasty. Many folks make good images look worse in Photoshop rather than better. That is why I came up with our Digital Basics File...

As above, the copyright notice overpowers the image.

    ps: this monitor is calibrated.

Kestrels' are my fav. birds, very handsome species and this one is no exception love the eye contact and feathers. Agree it is oversat on my screen too. too bad tail is in shadow and perch is a bit thick.

Thanks E-J, The sky looks much better. You might try reducing the BLUE SAT for an even more subdued look.
