Hi Judy, Beautiful colors, lighting and comp. Would of wished for a sharper foreground petal...

Yes, I agree with Dave...if that ruffled edge were a bit sharper I think it would have made the image even stronger. I'd also consider taking the BG all the way to black since so much of it is there already. Lovely, deep, dramatic colors...you just gotta love a good orchid!

I like the bloom a lot. To my eye the BG could be darker so the vertical OOF plant were not visible.

Hey Judy, this is a tough shot as the flower as a lot of depth and hard to get enough depth of field on the flower without causing the BG to get messy. I would also like to see a little more DOF on the petal edges but not sure if you have lost to much on the rest of the flower b doing that.

    Hi Judy Lynn,
Tough BG's in the orchid area and i feel you handled it pretty well....agree that toning it down more is probably the way to go.....or at least softening the edges. I would have defiitely sacrificed the SS for a bit more DOF.....go figure!.....I still think it was composed and exposed nicely overall.

You did a good job of isolating the Orchid from the BG, which is difficult to do at Longwood. Beautiful colors and nice composition. Others have given suggestions, so I will refrain.
