Fine shot of the Ibis. Wish for a better BG but you take what is given. Seems a bit over saturated???

Reducing the contrast here with a reverse S-curve would likely improve it substantially.

    Hi Doug,
I actually like the BG as it adds context - great story about the flooded car park!

I also like the inclusion of the habitat. For me it adds a sense of place and scale. I agree with others that decreasing the contrast/toning it down might make the image more pleasing.

Another vote for the background, I like to see the natural environment. I agree with improvement comments above and will add that it lookes like a little CCW might help.

Aside from the good advice from above, I would add that two things bug me a bit: the vegetation in front of the leg, and the lime green reed skimming along the ibis' neck. Did the bird move forward a bit and did you take any images then? Anyhow, still a cool setting - especially taken from a parking lot!! That place seems like a bird photographer's paradise...

As mentioned apart from the good suggestions made, I feel the light is harsh and hasn't helped. Bg is tricky in getting separation from a bird that wants to stay near cover, and if local or convenient, worth going back in different light to see what other options can be made. TFS
