#Not recommended to use such a low shutter speed at this focal length - a increase in the ISO would have helped some - and the use of flash another option.
Full frame - reds desaturated a tad.
Would have liked the white strips not to be in the BG.
Hi Mr. Peters,
This sure is a face that only a mother could love...:D...The composition, image and capture is superb...I like the color rendition and razor sharp details...the head angle and crystal sharp eye is right on the money...well done Sir...this is a definite wall hanger in Mom's house...:D:)
What a vulture - love the yellow cravat. The comments above have the details covered.
I am usually not a fan of bird portrait shots but this one really works (maybe it's the cravat?). One terrific image
Cheers
Gail

Hi Lance, In spite of your caveats this is a terrific image. I like bird portraits when they show details I could never see with my unaided eyes, and you have captured a wealth of details here. This bird may not be considered handsome or pretty, but my eye is attracted to the sharpness and colors. Very nice!!
A question for you - Is this an image that the HA police would write you up for, or is this an acceptable HA?
Hi Ron - HAP should be reasonably happy here - Generally you want the head parallel to the sensor or turned a couple of degrees towards -there is a tutorial in the educational resources forum that does cover it pretty well.
:)
Lance...the colors and detail are just so good. The reds and yellows really pop against the mostly green bg. The white lines in the bg are a just a bit distracting but not too bad. I Like it!
