    Default Bosque Fog

My favorite of the misty mornings at the Bosque del Apache last season. This was January 25, 2009.

Sweee-eeet. A good job with the EXP at zero to prevent over-exposing the RED and YELLOW channels. Love the sharp birds and the o-o-f bushes in the BKGR. The head and neck of the crane on the left frame edge and the edge of the body of a facing crane on the right frame edge are mildly distracting. A small crop from each side and a bit off the bottom would eliminate that problem. I do like the careful framing and the clean lower edge.

Beautiful -- wish I was there. I like the orange hues and greys and blacks really complement each other.

Wow! I can certainly understand why this would be one of your favorites. My eyes are drawn to one of the center birds, with both it's wings spread up. It just seems to stand out and adds nice symmetry to an overall splendid composition!

Pretty cool light and great mood. I like the shades of gray/black and agree regarding a slight crop off the bottom.

Bosque can certainly create some magic light. Nice image with a good exposure. I too would crop just a fraction from the left and clone the small bit of the bird on the right that intrudes. A very nice image from a great place.

Great job on the exposure. I especially like the different tonalities of birds moving from dark to light through the photo.

David, Really gorgeous light and I love the layered look of the birds. Very nicely seen and captured.

Thanks for the comments and suggestions. I had cropped those edges out for the print... must have forgotten to do it on the jpg!

Artie - Shooting into the birds on the east side pond at the tracks, sun rising behind them. Is that where your Fire in the Mist shot was taken?

Denise - While the light and mist were nice, it is the layering of the far birds to the near birds that drew me to this shot in particular. Thanks.

Thanks David, My Fire in the Mist image was created at the Main Impoundment. Just for the record, I am pretty sure that they will be cracking down on folks crossing the tracks to get to the North Railroad Pond this year.... I hope that they do not put up any fences as you can make some good images from the road. You can still walk in by using the crossing north of the pond but it is at least more than a mile round trip. Just more of the War on Nature Photographers....
