    Default Great Egret Flight

    Hi,

I've been a member of this forum for sometime now, but I never posted much. I'm always amazed with the quality of the pictures posted here! It's almost intimidating...

This is a very early morning egret flight at Chincoteague Island, VA. I would appreciate your comments and thanks for looking! (Olympus E3, Zuiko 50-200mm + EC2.0)

Hi Laura and big wellcome on board :-)
This is a very nice image and in my opinion, the exposure job is fantastic. Perfect whites against a creamy and out of focus background. The light is really sweet and the image is really sharp. The open beak is a great bonus. I wish for a more extended wing positions and for a better eye contact. Keep them coming :-D

Laura, I really like your image - a very pretty bird that is well exposed against a beautiful background. A slightly better head-angle would have been great.

Hi Laura, what have you been afraid of? With images like this, you could be a seasoned poster by now. Good control of the whites, showing the feather detail from the underwing. I like the take off posture, together with the open beak. The neck area seems a tad smooth, as if some NR slipped in there. Otherwise, keep them coming.

Very good job with the exposure, overall a pretty cool "take-off" pose but a better head angle is sorely needed (it can be pretty hard to ask our avian friends to do this on cue ain't it!). The techs look like they are good, but don't forget to include them (SS, aperture, ISO, EC,...) with your text so we can better help you with suggestions if ever needed :-)

Sorry I didn't include the techs in my first post. Here they are:

    E3, 50-200mm, EC2.0
    1/1250s f/8.0 at 294.0mm iso400

    Thanks again!
