    Default Barn Owl

It was forecast to be a good night, weather wise, with hopefully some early evening sunlight so i went out to a spot where a local barn owl had been seen hunting near to its nest.

this shot was my favourite of the ones i took, the orange glow of the last rays of sunlight just arrived as the owl made its appearance.

    Hi Colin,

This is really well done. Love the soft warm light. If it were mine I would crop for horizontal and leave the sky out. Can you post it bigger? Top marks!

wow.. loved this, the out of frame interest of the bird tells a story, Nice pose and expo, I am not too sure if that pink patch should be there or no, its distract from the action IMO.

You did well Colin as I find these very hard to see let alone photograph. The bright bit of the sky is a little eye catching.

    Hi Colin,
Gorgeous pose and awesome light. Agree that the sky patches are distracting.

I love the bird and light. In additions to the comments above concenring the sky if it were mine I might try and either run a small amount of gaussian blur or noise reduction on the background. Thanks for sharing.

Liked it enough to work with very few pixels. BKGR cloning at 75%. Gaussian Blur (about 10 pixels and erase the edges of the bird) and NR on the BKGR, 10/50/0 contrast mask on the bird. Small crop.

Artie did a very good job on the processing side of this image. I agree about the background being a bit noise. Gaussian blur helps a lot to fix the problem
