Captured at the Salton Sea. I just love the white pelicans, especially in breeding plumage. Would have loved to have gotten the shot one second earlier but he was really moving... The high ISO did what I wanted it to.

Excellant xposure control and very nice pose, just a little tight in the frame for me but that is easy to overcome :)

Really nice capture. Exposure looks great and the dark blue water really sets off the pelican. I also like the small reflection in the water of the pelican. It adds interest.

Excellent self-critique; you were about 1 1/2 seconds too late for the light angle.... I love the pose and especially the faact that the bird is so brightly colored but does not have the black feathers about the face and head that they usually do during breeding season.

What everyone above (but you) is missing is that as the bird turned away from you the face became shaded....

I liked this picture very much, the shadow on the face lets the viewer look straight at the eye which is very sharp and intense here. I also liked the wing position. Definitely in an ideal world would have loved to see the birds without any shadow underneath the birds right wing.
Overall a very good picture. Congrats!!
