    Default Semipalmated Plover at Sunrise

I went to Sandy Hook this morning where Denise and I met and we had some fun with the shorebirds. I photographed this plover shortly after sunrise.

Beautiful morning light - I like the colors. Good eye contact and I think he's smiling too. Awesome.

Lovely light and mood of image. Perfect exposure brought all details out of the white and dark plumage. Very well done.

Axel, It was a good morning and I'm still going through my images. The BG looks really nice and your details and exposure look great. Nicely done.

Beautiful Axel! There is a serene look to the image. I love the rising sun reflected in the eye.

I tried gentle dodging under the eye to lighten this area up a little and it seemed to work.

I like the pose and diffuse light. The seamless transition for water to sky and pale blue band there, are most effective too.

Lovely soft light, and BG. Tack sharp and good exposure too. Image looks just a tad dark on my monitor, maybe a midtones adjustment of 1.1 or so?

    Well Done!

A beauty, I might lighten the eye and selectively sharpen the head more.

Thanks for the comments and suggestions. I debated lightening it more but since was just a few minutes after sunrise and the sun was partially covered by clouds I thought this came closest to what I remembered.

I like it as presented, Axel. I like the soft, pastel tones of the background, and the riffle of water at his feet. Nice head angle, too.

Well done as noted above. Can anyone age this bird? (Adult or juvenile?)

What a sweet light! The low angle is fantastic but the eye is really killer. Very good job!

What realy makes it special for me, is the calmness of the image.
The soft light, pastel (stunning BG) colors and a beautiful specimen all contribute for that.
