Default Merlin - WARNING GRAPHIC CONTENT

    Attached Images Attached Images

On the way back from our pelagic trip in Westport Washington we stopped in at Dungeoness Spit and found this Merlin on a fresh SHort-billed Dowitcher kill. He ate the head, then the breast, then ripped out the intestines (seen in front) and devoured the internal organs and whatever was left. The reality of Mother Nature can be tough to watch sometimes...

Very nice and dramatic. Good exposure, DOF, comp and I love how the bird with prey stands out doe to the BG and sand. Congrats.

Sweet light, pose, and behavior. I love the clean sandy FG, and BG. Those intestines are a bit disgusting.

    Well Done!

    Glenn,

While definitely gruesome, it is still a spectacular image. Top marks! Thank you for sharing this.

This really is dramatic/graphic. I like the light, eye contact and BG and might go for a slightly wider crop.

This is really dramatic but real, that is how nature works and you have captured the scene very well. Terrific!

Excellent capture. I like the very clean surrounding...interesting juxtaposed with the carnage. Everything is sharp and the exposure was handled well. Thank you for sharing.

I really like it. It's uncluttered so there's nothing to distract you from the action. On one hand, I can see where more room might be desirable but for this one, I like the tighter crop. I really want to see any and all of the details. Well done.

Excellent nature photography Glenn. Not graphic at all for me. Just the way it is. Crop's fine for me :)

Glenn, great photo of our local subspecies (Falco columbarius suckleyi) or Black merlin. I don't find this graphic at all.

    superb capture.
FG and BG are great. I like the light, sharpness, colors and the scene.
I would open the image a little bit ( mainly top and right)
