    It has been awile since I posted a bird image so here is a Scrub Jay I found at a local preserve I shot last year that i just got around to converting.

    40D, 500 f/4, 1/100 at f/4, Aperture Priority, Evaluative Metered +1, ISO 400, Raw, Flash at -1 2/3, Tripod, Small crop

    The main subject might be a bit bright and too sharp, but it could just be my monitor. You may be suggested to reduce the size of the perch by cropping some off the bottom. Love the background.

    I fing the Jay a bit too bright also. I like the tip of the perch but find the rest to heavy in this setting.

    I actually like the comp as is. The perch tells a lot about the birds environment. The exposure is right on and the BG is stunning. You have lovely feather detail. It looks as though that may be your reflection in the bird's eye!
