Overcast light at Revere beach this morning. Had to use flash, too dark and cloudy, BG looked all gray unfortunately.

    CC appreciated.

Sorry for posting a least right above yours, funny how we were posting them basically at the same time.
Great comp and you did great with the flash. I actually like your BG as it makes the bird pop. He looks a bit over sharpened but not by much. Congrats

I like the soft lighting and your use of flash to bring out the colors and feather detail.

    Lovely composition, Ilija.
I think you've nailed the exposure here with your use of just enough fill flash.

I agree the flash work is well done on this. I might have darked the right corner a bit as it pulls my eye from the birds head.

Just a bit higher here would likely have been a bit better as it would have removed the merge of the bird's head and the grey line in the BKGR. I actually like the grey BKGR better than that somewhat messy stuff on the beach. Sharp, but does not look overSHed to me. Good EXP and use of fill flash.

Artie, thanks for the comments. I'm still thinking heavily about exposure, angle, HA etc.
Hopefully at some point these will become routine and in the field can concentrate on overall composition, action, motion etc.
    Thanks again, appreciated...

Ilija, good use of flash, as you have brought out the colours very well. I feel if you darkened the BG a tad, this would pop even more. Just a thought.

Ha, funny that you mention, I was actually thinking of lightening the dark parts of the BG. Turned out to be too complicated and time demanding. I'll try your idea when I have bit more time...
