Hi Paolo,
If you would have waited perhaps a few more seconds, where the birds would not merge together, it would have made a much stronger composition...the image looks a bit flat, would recommend on boosting the contrast and saturation levels, also cropping 1/4 from the bottom of the frame to eliminate some of the negative space...the head angle on the top bird is off a little, you do have fine feather details...looking forward to your next one...
I'm confused with the tech info ... you got an extension tube here? No clue why you would want it since the birds are not within the minimum focusing distance, amazing it was able to focus at all with the tube and converter !!!!
.. I see a dragon fly in the frame .. maybe you were doing dragons and these guys came along !!! Re post is better maybe a little over contrasty !!
with this combination you can have AF to about 150 meters; the most interesting thing is that I am able to obtain better results of BIF photography when the BG is very heterogeneous, but also against the sky; my explanation is that with the 12 mm ET you limit the excursion of the AF between 4 and 150 meters ;usually you do not need to get a BIF at infinity; if you loose the bird the AF does not go to infinity.
please tell me if I am wrong.
Hi Paolo. Agree with Gus's fine critique. Repost is better though a little too contrasty. Interesting that you caught a dragonfly in the image too; I would clone it out though because it's OOF. Looking forward to your next one!
Gus pretty much nailed it - I too would be curious about the use of the extension tube.
Not familiar with the canon lens - but would it not have a focus limit switch on it - like the Nikons??
Keep them coming
Hi Paola....As someone else said you have good feather detail but the composition suffers from a merger of birds and the bg is just too muddy. BIF are tough...keep trying and hope to see your next post!
