    40D, 400DO + 2xTC, f11, 1/8s, ISO 1600, -1/3 EC, tripod mount, MLU, cable release, vertical crop.

    This looks pretty good for ISO 1600 and the low shutter speed. I like the tight crop, inquisitive look and BG. I might raise the color temperature a few degrees and lighten the owl's right eye more.

    Does need some light in the dark eye. Looks great for 1600ISO.

    Hey Steve, great moody feel to this, and a good job with the high ISO. I particularly like the ears blending into the BG, and those orange eyes, although partially closed, stand out nicely against the greyish plumage.

    40D and ISO 1600! Wow! Eye detail on image right is good. Agree RE the other eye. It almost looks as if an OOF branch is in the way of the bird's right eye (image left).

    Hi Steve,
    Nice detail on this. I can never get them to raise their ears though. They always look like an angry cat when I photograph them. Nice clarity considering the slow shutter speed.

    The raised tufts were probably due to the fact that this one was calling/listening to another owl at this time.
