While I was waiting for my computer to get fixed, the past two weeks, I ventured over to the Navy SEALS Museum, in Fort PierceIt is an interesting place to visit if you are in the area and have an interest in the undersea world. It was one of two training centers for the Navy SEALS/UDT teams after their creation.

I went there for a reason, as well as for the visit. I had read where they received the lifeboat that was involved in the rescue operation of the Maersk Alabama. The crew had been captured by Somali pirates, but the crew had fought back until the captain agreed to go with the pirates if they left the crew on ship. The captain was taken, for ransom, on the lifeboat and the crew was free to leave on the Once the lifeboat left the , the Navy interceded and had warships trail the lifeboat, until the Navy SEALS sharpshooters arrived and rescued the captain by simultaneously shooting three of the four captors on the lifeboat and freeing the captain. The boarded up window was one that was shot out during the rescue.

The following week, there was a episode on Heroes TV show about the episode, which added to the interest of the images I had captured.

The museum asked if it could acquire the lifeboat for display and the day I was there it was donated by the shipping company and will be on display with an explanation of why. The captain and first mate accompanied a representative of the shipping company for the ceremony.

Hope you get to see it and the rest of the exhibits someday, if you ever get to venture to this side of the world. The heroes deserve our support.

Yes, Al. It's an interesting museum, especially for us olde foggies of the under sea world, who used the two hose regulators and other ancient equipment in the past. ;) The history of diving unfolds within the museum, along with the military element.

Here is the web link if you want investigate it.

If you get up this way let me know and maybe we can share a few photo "tails" together. I live about 8 miles from the museum in PSL.

I like Axel's take. Loco-boat. Like an underwater shunter. :D Thanks for that info Mark. :)

    Thanks all for viewing

Yes, Ákos I was impressed by the apparent sea worthiness of it. If it won't be for the waterline seam, I don't think it would ever be possible to sink it! It's cramped inside. But when you life is trusted to it, room is not a factor. It definately would ride out a storm. ;)
