I visited my good mate Gerrie, in the Pilanesberg nature reserve yesterday, and came away with this image of a sparrow. The BG is an OOF mountain.

Hi Stuart, I love the background. The two tone colors with the smooth gradient is very nice. Good head angle. Your exposure also looks good to me. For my personal taste I find the large out of focus perch a little distracting. Overall a pleasing image to me. Thanks for sharing.

I like the head angle, BG and eye contact. I might sharpen the bird a bit less and I see a blueish/magenta color cast on my monitor. Have you installed the new firmware for the 50D?

Very nice image Stuart. The colors of this go really well together. Nice detail and pose on the bird.

Neat looking sparrow! I agree about the perch...I feel a slight crop such as my repost helps de-emphasize it (I'm also not fond of the BG peeking through at LLC, and this fixes that too). What do you think?

Thank you all so much for the great feedback and input.

Dan, thanks for your repost. It does work now that I see it. I was afraid by lifting up the bottom, the feet would be too tight, but they fit in nicely. I noticed you cropped from the left as well, that actually takes away most of the issue. Thanks again.
