As the light, was from the wrong side, and I really wanted to show this image with the kingfishers catch placed perfectly in his beak, I decided to convert to B&W and hopefully make something of it.
Hi Stuart, Beautifully placed catch indeed!! I like your composition and feel your conversion is nice. I might tone down the perch a bit and open up the eye area just a bit. Always love to see these guys and this is a unique shot!!
Hi Stuart, thought I would bring the image into PS and see if I could lighten the shadow area of the bird a bit. A number of good qualities to the image. I like the positioning of the bird within the frame and the fact he has a fish. Nice contrast in the birds feathers also. You previously stated about the shade and possibly a better HA but all in all I like the image and feel you definately made something out of it!!
Good job on the repost, Dave! That eye really pops now! You sure have a doozy of an image here, Stuart and I think you did well to do the B&W version - it really adds a dramatic touch!
Despite the lighting, this is a great catch, congratulations Stuart for capturing a difficult subject. It was a good idea to convert to B&W and the repost is an improvement as well. And the fish pose is a bonus.
