I have taken this picture at a roadside den in Kruger National Park during 2008.

f2.8 (wanted to isolate the hyena completely from the background)

This is lovely Elmar. Rather surprising to see no comments as yet. Tack sharp and in good light. Ideally, I'd like more room in front and a tad off the left. Worth considering blurring further the reeds coming out of the head if your ethics allow. Nice shot and like it.

Nice lively expression. The reeds coming out of the head are a bit distracting.
I'd crop from the left and add room in front as suggested.

I like the Hyena, but not necessarily the crop. I would create more space in the front of Hyena (to give more room to the Hyena's look, if possible).

Light is great and so are the details.

Thanks everyone for the comments and suggestions. I will do some more work on the crop and the background. Peter, this was taken on the H14 right at the turn off to Shimuwini (S141). Always nice to get a hyena den close to the road, but I have not been lucky lately.
