Nice pose and good use of fill flash. Well done with the sharpness at 1/100s.

Nice pose, and I agree with the perch being a little less than ideal...but when not part of a setup you take what you can :-) There is a bit of a blue cast on the bird possibly caused by it being in shade - when in PS, go to Hue/Saturation and desaturate the blue channel completely (I tried it, you may like the result).

Hi Daniel: thanks for the critique. Here's a repost with the blue cast removed as you suggested. I agree it is much better. Thank You!

I like the angle, sharpness, BG and eye contact. The repost looks better, I might only lighten the eye a bit. I'm not familiar with this vireo species, first I thought that it looks like a flycatcher.

Axel: After reviewing more images from this shoot, I agree that this is NOT a Plumbeous Vireo. I think it is a Willow Flycatcher. I have other shots that are the Plumbeous. The white around the eye goes across the bridge above the beak on the Plumbeous and the beak is very slightly different. Thx for your thoughts.

    Hi Keith,

This is a Gray Flycatcher. Willows show very little eyering (usually none at all). Also, the white area at the base of the upper mandible, the white edges to the long tail and the overall gray color point to this species.

    Great Image!

    Cheers,

Great shot Keith!! As for ID, I don't see enough field marks to make a call except to say "empidonax". Pretty important to see the primary tip projection from the secondaries, which calls for a view of the back. And even then, I would have trouble making the ID:o:o
