From Machias Seal Island off the coast of Jonesport Maine. A trip you just have to make. It is breathtakingly beautiful and loaded with Puffins, Common Murre's and Razrbills.

Canon EOS 5D, Shooting Date/Time 7/23/2007 09:26:41, Tv (Shutter Speed) 1/1000Sec. Av(Aperture Value) F8.0, Evaluative metering, Exposure Compensation 0, ISO 320, Lens F300mm f/2.8L IS USM, Focal Length 300.0 mm.

Shot from blind, 10 feet away, cropped for a 9x12. I have been 4 times and each time is bettert han the last. You get 1 1/2 hour in the blind they put you in. The boat trip out is $100 per person. And worth every penny. Go to: http://www.machiassealisland.com/

    Grady,
It's obvious you photographed the bird before you shot it. Great thinking!

    This image is screaming potential.

The base image is very nice and sharp. Great wing position.

It looks dull, a curves adjustment can cure that. Flash set between -1 and -2 stop could add a little pop to the image and catch light to the eye.

If you have it on the raw file, a little more room above, below and in front of this beautiful bird would make it a stronger image.

Some flash would have really made this a great image. I agree that making some adjustments in PS would do the trick. The pose is very nice, and this is a pleasing composition.

Sorry Blake my man, no flash allowed on the island and in the blind. The hole you shoot from anyway is too small for a flash. So here is a revised version for review.
