    Photographed this over on Gabriola Island BC at my friend Teds house sat in a blind for a long time but it paid off.I no the whites in the neck are blown but not much i can do .I still like the image Mark II N 500 F4 1.4 converter @ 1/500 F5.6 ISO400 +1/3

    An outstanding image. Would have lked it if the whole head was sharp but at F 5.6 that is what we get.BG and perch work well.

    Hi William. This is a lovelly portrait of the kigfisher. Yes, whites can be a problem but I would have metered for the whites, retaining detail, and working on the exposure in PS.

    Nice pose and details. Too bad about the overexposed whites. You could have dialed in negative exposure compensation to avoid it. If it is a RAW file, you still might be able to recover the whites.
