    Hi all,

Am trying to post process some of my older shots. I quite liked this one from last winter as to me it shows how cold it was that day (note the ice between the birds upper and lower mandible).

    Hope you like it,

What a beautiful bird. The perch is great. the BG matches the cold temp. The top of the head looks a little soft. But wish it was mine. Thanks for sharing. Minor point:Might add a tad to the bottom so nothing is cut off

I'm glad our kingfishers don't have beautiful colors like these (not) cause I'd never be home!

Really like the winter venue here...I don't think I've ever seen a kingfisher image with winter elements in it before.

Sharpness of the bird looks fine to me....I might have tried a touch more sharpening on the moss....very little more.

Great colors on the bird. Nice headturn and composition in general. Background nicely offsets the intense colors. The green of the moss though seems a bit too green here. Congrats. JR

Nice one Krijn, the frost (especially at the bottom side of the perch) is a nice touch! The bg really compliments the bird but in my opinion the colors are too vibrant. Looking at your recent photographs I've noticed that you're using high ISO's quite frequently...remember that in the old days we used to shoot at ISO50-200 all the time and we were still able to get away with photographs like these. I agree with you that to capture action, you might want to higher your ISO's in order to get high shutterspeed. However, here you could have easily chosen ISO400 or even lower to avoid noise issues (as I noticed some colornoise in your recent photographs). Keep up the good work, buddy! Cheers!

Exquisite perch Krijn, and I like the inquisitive pose from the KF. Lovely well exposed colours, and the ice on the tip of the beak, puts this over the top.

One of the best perches I ever saw. Like the head turn but the head does seems a touch soft.

Gorgeous! I love the head turn as well as the bit of ice on the bill.
