Gray day, rainy, really bad light, but this shot is unusual
for me. Normally its flowers etc. So I know its not razor sharp
but something about it I like.
50D, 400DO, F7.1, iso 500 , 1/400 cam -.33, BBeamer -3 stops, off
wimberly head. Hard to slow down a hummer at 1/400th
It is unusual. and I agree with your self critique.
My only but is, that I wish the bird's head would be engulfed (is this the right word?) by the perch.
I think the perch is dark enough to set off the head of the Hummingbird enough not to bother me. I do like the behavioral aspect of this image. Not often do you get to see a Hummingbird eating bugs....most people think all they eat is nectar.
Neat behavior and a good EXP but with the bird's head turned well away from you this one just does not work at all for me. I would have been OK with the wing blur had the wing positions been more pleasing.
