    This image was created with the Nikon D2X and f4 500 mm lens at ISO 100 1/80 sec at 6.3. I wanted the post in the photo as much as the Caracara to show his environment.

    OK, I know birders don't have a since of humor but some bird photographers do;

    Two guys board a plane, as they sit there they smell something awful and one says to the other '' What the heck is that smell" The buzzard in front of them turns around and says " That's just my carrion "

    OK if you don't get it just look up the word carrion

    I think the post works here Rod. I like the blurred BG too. The bird looks great. I would move the bird to the right a bit and add some canvas up top. I wish the barbed wire was more level, but I understand that the bird would then be at a funny angle.

    These birds are so beautiful and they never want to sit on a nice perch. I like the pose, BG, good job on the exposure. I don't like the barbed wire....I think I'd attempt to clone it out if it was mine. Well done.

    Sic! the joke that is.. :D :D the bird looks like he has
    a bad hair piece. But nice shot, I might crop some off
    the right edge to move the bird over a bit.

    Personally I don't care for showing too much of the post and especially the barbed wire. Needs room at top and to the left IMO. Beautiful background, sharpness and pose. JR

    lovely image, 1/80... well done.
    I like the soft colors, wonderful BG and pose.
    A bit more room on top would be very good I think.
    He's a little too centered for my taste.

    Hey Rod, I could easily live without the barbed wire and more room above do pointing the lens well up would have been my preference. In the same vein, I would have liked the bird on the right side of the frame looking left. I do like the HA and the two-toned BKGR.

    I would clone out or crop out the wire. lovely bird well exposed - agree with Artie regarding more space on top and moving him right in the frame. love the BG!

    I do love cara caras....and the do love their fence posts with barbed wire...especially if this was from Vierra?

    I think I would have cropped just above the wire, left some more room at the top and if possible as Artie suggested, I would have had the bird more toward the right side of the frame.

    I've looked at the sharpness on 2 different computers and it appears to me that the bird could use some selective sharpening, especially from the shoulder on down. The perch also looks a bit soft?
