This curious little guy is Uncle Bill, Papa Joe’s brother who resides in my Pops’ garden, along with the rest of the family. Uncle Bill was painted with a Nikon D3, using a Nikkor 200mm f/4 IF-ED macro lens with a stacked combination of 36mm, 25mm, and 20mm Nikkor extension tubes.
Image Solution: focal length @ 200mm / exposure mode @ aperture priority / in camera matrix metering / 1/125sec. - f/32 / exposure comp @ 0EV / ISO @ 1200 / white balance @ auto / AF - Mode @ manual / color space @ sRGB / lighting solution - Nikon R1C1 wireless close up speedlight system; both light units set to ¼ lumen burst with a wide dispersal pattern and attached diffuser. / tone comp @ +1 degree / hue adjustment @ +2 degrees / saturation factor @ +2 degrees / support platform – monopod.
Excellent, as usual, Gus. You are truly the Maestro of Macro. But I also want to put in a good word for the names you contrive for your subjects. I'm always interested to see who will appear next -- Uncle Bill, Papa Joe, Little Randy, Lady Amber, Lady Gloria, Lady Star Dust .... You have a lively inner life. :D
Nice image, exposure is spot on. What is the DoF rule 1/3 in ft and 2/3 behind? I would think at f/32 the DoF would be stronger. I assume the stacked tubes and 200mm lens worked against the small aperture?
