Went to my favorite spoonie spot this am, 7:30am, set up my 5D MKII, 500 f/4L on my wimberlyII atop my gitzo 3530LS for some enjoyable waiting so I could add some more clicks to my camera.
Well, I first tried AV mode, whites blinking, go to -.1.00 ev, still blinking, tried Manual mode, same thing, tried TV shutter mode same thing. Finally I went to something I never use, (P) program mode at -1.00 at that cured it. Never had that happen before. I have never used the P mode?? Does anyone use that???

Oh yes, I used cloudy WB in the sunlight to try to help also. Left at 8:00am. Phooey!!!

Anyway, here is one from my TV mode, 1/800, f.5.6, ISO 250. -1.00 ev, stabilized on then off to check my focus.

I can't help you with your exposure woes, but I like your spoonie. It has just enough eye contact to let you know that it sees you watching. A very nice reflection.

I like the pose especially with good eye contact. The water color lovely. I am certainly not an expert but the exposure looks pretty good to me. If it were mine I might try and tone down the whites on the breast with a little linear burn. I can comment on using the program mode as I shot in manual the majority of the time. If you have it I might add a bit of room at the top and to our right as the bird feel a bit tight in frame too me. Thanks for sharing as I enjoyed this image.
