    Indian Panther

From Kanha Tiger Reserve, Madhya Pradesh, India

    Canon 40D, Canon 600mm, F4 @ ISO 500

Waited, waited and waited for a better HA, but no luck; had to be content with this one.

Thanks in advance for your comments and suggestions.

Own nits covered well. Am at office so difficult to comment on IQ as monitor the pits, :), but do like the rim light effect, low angle of view and oof bg. Getting one out in the open is pretty cool. TFS

OK. Am at home and on my 30" apple. looks great! The light is truly gorgeous Santanu. I'm not going to pass comment on the areas in the bg that might be perceived as to compete for attention, just to say I acknowledge for some, they might, but for me, other than a head turn, this is to die for, and very well done. (Thats my way of saying I wish I had seen this and taken this..... :)). trust me.

I'm OK with the head, it's a profile view, not turned away, and it shows the subject concentrating in something.
I like the background too except for the tree on the upper left corner. Rim light is killer. A tremendous image is you ask me :)
    Beautiful specimen too.

I love the rim light...lovely details, beautiful Post Processing. You seem to be using intermediate ISO's...find anything better doing that ? Thx !

Thanks everyone for your thoughts and comments.

@ Kiran: I get fairly good results in cases where there is no considerable actions (as in this case, too).

P.S. The bokeh is 100% natural - due to a shallow DoF.

beautiful beautiful shot. I have never seen one in the wild despite several trips to forests that they inhabit. Never been to Kanha though.

I dont mind the head angle too. Love the path as it merges the foreground and the background...giving the necessary depth to the image.

Other than what's been said, I would tone down the URC. A little too bright and competing for attention.

Nice image. I like the rim lighting. Would tone down the bright sunlight patch near the lower right corner.
