    Default Osprey

I haven't posted for a while, so I took an older photo to present. This was the first osprey I saw in my life. I was very excited and took many shots. Here is a take off. Comments are welcome.

Lorant, comp works well, and I like the take off pose. I can see why you were excited, a great subject to capture. Hope you got one of him leaving the perch. I would liked to have seen this larger too.

Lorant I like the space that you have given him and the moment captured.
Would like to see a bit more detail in the white feathers, is this a tad over exposed?

This is really nice brother. :) I love the pose and it is well placed in the frame. I checked the histogram and it all appears right on, but it still seems a little too bright. I added around +40 to the black channel of the whites in selective color adjustment. How do you like the repost?

I like the pose, eye contact, perch and composition. I like the repost, in this one adjusted the midtones to 0.75 and toned down the highlights more.

Thanks guys for the comments. Like both reposts...thanks for both of you for spending the time to do it. Akos, how do you do selective color adjustment?
Axel; your version looks a bit dark on my screen, but it is a laptop...it is really time to buy a decent monitor. Thanks again.

    From memory

Image>Adjustments>Selective Color or preferably you can do it as a layer adjustment via Layers>New adjustment layer>Selective Color. Also by using an adjustment layer your converted raw image remains in its original state without modifying of pixels.

Once you selected the Selective Colors, you see a dialog box pop up (CS3) with the color selection drop down arrow and all the adjusment sliders or the same Dialog Box appears on the RHS of screen (CS4). You can then select all the different colors and adjust separately.

For example to add a little boost in contrast, I would select the Black color and move the Black slider up two points (+2) then select the Neutral color and do the same. Adjust to taste and reality I guess.

    See this tutorial.
