    Hi

One of the toughest species to get at eye level. They are very easy to get at bad angles (1-2m above).
It took me some planning to find a place where I could get in with my waders. Finally on Dec 24th I found a huge flock of Barrow's and Surf Scoters, quite close to the shore....so I tried for them.
I waited until they were all diving got in.....when they came up again, they swam about 50m away....
First I tried to follow them, but they still swam away. So I decided to wait. After about 15 minutes they came back !
The closest ones about 1-2 m away from me !!! :)
Was such a great experience to be in the middle of 500 ducks...:D

Great angle, exposure control and details. I just wish for more room at the right side.

You're right , it's hard to get these at eye level. Very well done.

Lots of hard work, a little luck, great technique, & perfect SHARPNESS & EXPOSURE. A great combo. Very nicely done.

Great work, Jan. Love that OOF water in the foreground, one of the exceptions of out of focus backgrounds. It works here.

Another beauty Jan. You are certainly cleaning up with the waterfowl as of late. ;)

Good job getting the iridescence in the head to show so well. Great light and perfect headturn. A terrific image!
