    Default Mute Swan reflection

    Attached Images Attached Images

One from a week ago. I found a couple of Swans preforming a mating ritual after which this one, still high on the whole mating ritual, came by very close. The last rays of light and calm water made this a bit more special than the average shot to me.

I bumped up the ISO to get more DOF. Did some patching work on the top of the BG and selective enhancement of the eye.

Hope you like it, comments and critique are always welcome.

That's Killer, Krijn. Wonderful warm light, and peaceful pose and setting. Maybe just a tad more space in front, as the neck is a little to close to the edge IMO.

    Well Done!

Nice composition, very beautiful light too. I agree, a bit more room on the left might improve it.

Lovely soft light and warm colours. I do not normally like tight crops, but this works for me. I think the added reflection adds enormously to the image, so well done.

I like the composition, reflection, light and mood. What is the reddish patch at the top of the head?

Thanks for the comments people! Much apprieciated.....

    Hi Axel,

I have been wondering about that myself. I believe that this is something that shows up around their mating rituals, and thus could be hormone related??? I am not sure though.....I have seen other birds that were breeding/mating/building nests with the same patch on the head, but it could also have to do with feeding behavior when the top of the head touches the bottom of the ditch for instance......

    Cheers,

    Krijn

Sweet light and a nice reflection captured Krijn I like your composition I do think a touch more in front would work a bit better.
