Default Sandhill Crane: Bosque del Apache

My first post here and I appreciate the opportunity. This image was made at the Crane pool, early to mid-morning the week before Christmas last year. This was my third year there and I had hoped to get the Sandhills coming across the north corner of the pool and over the tan grass. There were so few people there at this time in late December that setting up was quite easy. Handheld with Bushawk. Thank you for your critiques and comments.

Very nice capture. Good flight posture, sharp, well exposed. Love the light on that inner wing. The background is not bad, but not exceptional.

Very nice light, pose, and sharpness. Perhaps ideally the BG would be in thirds, but it's not too distracting as it is. Did you get any over the grasses?

Great welcome and excellent first post. You had great light, the gray on the bird looks very good.
I really like the unusual landing pose and the contact with the camera. Hope to see many more...

Thank you, David. I did get quite a few over the grass and in the grass as they walked through it to get to another pond to the north. On my website there go to wading birds Sandhills, mostly from Dec. 08 but some from the year before.
