    Default Goshawk

We found this goshawk in the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park in the middle of the day. What I love about the Kgalagadi is the way that the sun reflects off the white(ish) sand and illuminates the birds so well from underneath when you shoot during the middle of the day. The goshawk was sitting on a branch about 30 meters away and we waited for a few take-off shots. Eventually it did take off and flew right towards us and over the car to investigate something on the other side next to the car. As we photographed the take-off the bird got bigger and bigger in the frame and this photograph is almost full frame. I was very impressed with the Mark 3's AF to get the head nice and sharp for a series of almost 20 photographs. All comments welcome!

Nice pose, HA, and underwing detail. The lighting is not ideal, but works OK here. I would de-sat the sky some.

Hi Isak. Love the eye contact; would brighten the irises a bit to draw more attention to the eyes. Also like the dangling feet. The bird feels a little tight in the frame; I don't mind a pano crop but I'd add some canvas on the right, and to a lesser extent the top and left. I agree about desaturating the sky a couple of clicks. I also think this image would have benefited from some + EC; the bird is a little underexposed.

A middle of the day image is superb showing well lit details underwing. Nicely done Isak and I agree about the sky.

Good handling of light, though a bit lighter would probably be idea;. Great eye contact Isak! Wow! Lucky you. :) I would sharpen the head a little more. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Isak, I like the angle of flight, and what a great head turn showing good eye contact. Im not sure exposing more of the underwings would improve this, so overall, well captured.

Good to see an Isak image again.
You did great here in the harsh light, it gives me hope for my short trip to KTP.
    I like the saturated sky.
Tell me more about the burst of 20 shots?
