    Default Lilac-Breasted Rollers

On a recent trip to Kruger National Park I saw these two LBRs interacting and was lucky enough to get this shot. I'd really love feedback on the processing here including branches, color, sharpening, cropping, etc...

    Thanks,

    Steve

Great looking birds. Good for you to get such excellent eye contact and ha's on both and lovely colours. I do find the branches distracting however and would prefer a clean bg. Very well done. Dave

I have to agree, the branches are an unnecessary distraction. Nice
eye contact, good timing to get both birds in a similiar focal plane.

THere is so little of the trees showing that not having them indeed would not be detrimental to the final image design. :) I love the action, looks just a little bright and saturated, but I am on a work monitor. :) Thanks for sharing.

Steve it is difficult to get one, never mind two. just needs stopping down the exp. and to saturate the images, nice work. One foul swoop can get rid of branches, as said the image will be none the poorer.

Fantastic action here and beautiful species. I find it too bright as well and oversaturated. Removing the branches would make it look cleaner. Congratulations.

Great action capture. I think removing the branches will improve the image. Suggest you tone down on brightness and saturation as it looks unnatural. Still well done on getting the action.

If you know these birds Lorant, you'll find that they are very vibrant and this is pretty much their exact color & saturation level.Perhaps a tad overexposed?

Well captured Steve, great interaction, however I'd remove the distracting lower branches as well.
    Cheers

Steve we trust that you had a great time in SA. I have been to the Kruger many times and have yet to capture 2 LBR's interacting.
I would also vote for removal of the branches and it does look a bit overexposed/bright.

I have taken the liberty to rework your image a bit.
There is still a fair amount of clipping, that I am sure can still be recovered from the raw file?
I have removed the branches and set the black, white and grey points with curves.
I trust you do not mind.

Excellent interaction you show here. Image/colours are bright and maybe a little to saturated from natural but it is something you will easily handle in your preferred image manipulation software. As to branches, for me this is the type of stuff where you find these guys and showing some of the environment not an issue for me. The eye of the viewer is drawn to the bright colours of the subjects anyway.

Thanks everyone for the excellent feedback. Indeed, the branches need to go and I need to tone down the saturation a bit. The colors a too "electric".

Really stunning colors, this is an amazing specie. I too prefer having the branches cloned out, repost nails it. Congrats.

Congrats on a fine shot Steve. Getting two like this is quite something. No need to go over suggestions made, :). Well done.
