    Default White-crowned Sparrow

Yesterday I had the opportunity to spend some time in a friend's backyard photo blind. I set up some interesting perches near his feeders and tried to capture some pleasing images.

The light was pretty flat and overcast - a perfect opportunity to use some flash for fill light. In this case I had 4 flashes positioned on the various perches I had set up. I think 2-3 were a factor in this image.

    Hope you enjoy it :)

    Camera Model: Canon EOS 40D
    Shutter speed: 1/200 sec
    Aperture: 5.6
    Exposure mode: Av
Flash - 4 flashes off camera for fill @ -2/3
    Metering mode: Evaluative
    ISO: 320
    Lens: EF500mm f/4L IS USM

That certainly is an interesting perch. The fill flash has worked well, could I suggest a little less of the OOF perch.

Beautiful image. The oof moss is distracting to me, a crop at the top of oof area works better for me. Other than that superb.

The flash work, details and BG are great. While the perch looks very good, it is a bit dominant and the OOF part is a bit distracting. Maybe a different crop would solve all these issues.

Good call. Maybe an 8x10 crop for this one.

Vote for the crop. I would still get a bit more off of burn the bottom of the perch a bit. Lovely bird!

The crop is better but my eye still is drawn to the oof moss. As mentioned before "superb" image.
