Captured this time last year on an overcast day. Not entirely happy with the bright white BG, but that's how it was. :)

    30D, 300/1.4, ISO800, f/5.6, 1/3200th, +1EC, cropped from horz. Otherwise FF,.

Good exposure; love the comp with the sticks going diagonal.

BTW, where did you get the 300/1.4??

Akos you still have super feather detail and colour on the bird.
Akos I would have taken a bit off the bottom and left for a touch tighter crop. (bird a bit more in BRC )

It looks like it was overcast, but with the sun peeking out momentarily from the right (creating a bit of a sidelit situation). I'm finding the branch's shadow running up along the bird's siade a little distracting, especially on the face, but you did as well as you could under the circumstances. I like the double perch with the feet each holding on to a respective one :-) Maybe a bit off the top?

Cool looking subject and you did an excellent job given the lighting conditions.

I think that cropping it tighter would make it a much stronger image.

I like the softer light in this, and you have brought out those colours very well. Comp wise, I would take a bit off the bottom, and maybe selectively sharpen him a tad. Great sighting and capture bro.

Thanks for looking guys and for the tips.

Daniel, not sure if those are shadows on the face (though there could be a hint), the streaks are real markings this species has. :) I attach an image in flight and with light from behind me. See streaks. :)

Hi Akos, I'm not talking about the natural plumage streak running directly below the eye, but rather the longer one going straight back behind the eye and then running down the face, neck, shoulder all the way to the branch :-)

Super capture in a tough lighting situation Akos. The detail in the bird looks great. I wish the sky had been a little better for you.

Very nice shot Akos given the condition, I did not notice the shadow until I saw it mentioned!
