Great low angle, sharpness, calm water and BG, I particularly like the pancake-like pose and agree that these guys are fun to watch. If it were mine I would make it a tad darker by adjusting the midtones to about 0.95 and crop a little bit off top and bottom. I might also tone down the highlights a bit more.

Pretty spectacular image of a Coot if you ask me. Wonderful texture and a great low angle. I agree with Axel about the crop, but would leave the lights and dark as is. Very nice!

I like your dramatic treatment of this common bird. The creamy water with lovely reflection further elevates the photo. The sharpness and exposure look great. I agree that taking a bit off the top could help. I think I'll be looking at coots a bit more closely from now on.

One of the best coot images I've seen! Looks like he is just waking up from a nap. Great job on the exposure with both the whites and blacks.

A beautiful image of an overlooked bird. Your blacks are nice, velvety and smooth.

A very unique pose and the simplicity of the COMP make this an outstanding image.

    Hi Ian,

Nice to see you on this forum. I love the low angle and the good use of DOF. I would personally shave some off the bottom.

    Cheers

I love Coots Ian! Too bad we don't see them much in my neck of the woods.

The low angle is superb, in fact I am willing to wager you got your camera grip and maybe the bottom of the lens wet! As mentioned you have done really well on the exposure to keep detail in the dark greys and creams. I agree with taking a little of the bottom.

Excellent exposure on the coot, and showing good detail too. Your low angle works well, as if you were in the water, and I agree with the others regarding the crop.

Striking shot Ian. As mentioned, would shave some off the bottom, otherwise, pretty darn on the money.

Beautiful low angle and calm waters. Sharpness, background and pose are great. Whites could be toned down a bit. Spectacular image of a bird which is often a nuisance. Congrats, JR

Great unusual angle, but agree with others on cropping out a little of the bottom.
