Very nice image Keith, pin sharp and a complimentary coloured background.
Very nice, nothing I would change.
Nice look-back pose and good angle. I might sharpen a bit less, wish for a more uniform BG and would lighten the shadow of the bird some.
Nice pose the goldfinch gave you...you timed your image with a perfect head turn. Exposure looks great, but the strong overhead light gave you a deep shadow which is unfortunately blocking most of the far foot. The small bulge on the perch behind the bird is a bit distracting, and the image seems oversharpened. I personally don't mind the BG and I think the head pops nicely against the dark area.
Thx for the feedback. The image was taken at 8:10 in the morning. It turns out it is a strong sidelight, not overhead light. I too am not wild about the bulge on the perch. I'll see about removing it. This image had VERY little sharpening applied. Smart sharpen at a radius of .4 and an amount of 70%. Guess I should have not applied any sharpening.
Very nice image, Keith - head turn, bg, etc. I do agree with the appearance of oversharpening. I've found that a radius of .1 or .2 with 3 passes at 125% work good for the web (per Arties suggestion). Of course each image presents its own challenges.

Excellent shot Keith, love the pose and colors, the minor directions is the shadow, sharpness looks just finr on my screen.
Fanatstic pose and perch , BG is ok for me , may be little ( Very little ) oversharpned

Super pose with a perfect HA. Im fine with the light, but my first observation with this image was the over sharpening. Its normally more visible on the finer plumage ( around the head, and top of the wing. )
Can't get much sharper than that. Nice eye contact too. I wondered a little about the lump to the right of the bird, but seems like it's part of the perch.
