    Default Black-bellied Plover

I thought I would try something different here. Photographed on Cape Cod a few days ago, the sky was overcast but very bright, which made the exposure a bit tricky.

I like it. Including the vegetation is a nice touch but i might lighten the eye a touch.

Axel, I looked at this photo a long time and I'm still not sure I like the grass or not. But I commend you for overcoming the exposure challenge and I like the low angle on the bird.

Tricky one Axel. I'm good for rule breaking, :), and this is central, walking out of the frame, but I feel the oof reeds compete and don't add, and the blacks are blocked due to the lighting conditions. (Correction. They are showing 18-20 but look blocked)

    Axel,
I think the image would be stronger without the grass. It has a monchromatic feel to me and the green grass ruins the monchomaticity. As an aside, I am surprised this guy hasn't started molting the dark plumage by this time. The black bellied I have seen recently here have already begun molting.

Hi Axel, I personally like the composition. To me the inclusion of the grass takes a plain bird pictured makes it a bit more. It helps provide me with a sense of scale and place. Thanks for sharing.

I agree with Phil and like this alot. Has an interesting feel to it....I just wish the blacks were more detailed as that block of heavy color takes away from the whispy feel that the grass provides.

I like the almost high key feel to this, and the fading of the water into the BG works well. The plover certainly stands out, and I feel the grass adds, by adding an extra colour to the image. Well captured.

I like it and the OOF vegetation provides wonderful balance. But, the bird is a bit too centered for my taste. More room to the right with a nice pano crop and just a touch better HA! Love the HK effect though. Thanks for sharing. :)
