Another Spotted Pardalote to follow on from Akos' wonderful close-ups. Taken today under overcast windy conditions which meant the small twigs were constantly swaying and I couldn't get the dof I needed.

    Rob,
You've got more than enough DOF here for my liking. A wonderful image captured in not so ideal conditions. You handled the situation brilliantly and the colors show perfectly. I love these little fellas. In fact, I had a female perch in front of my kitchen window in the Callistemon tree about three meters away this afternoon and preened for a few minutes as I gazed in admiration. The first time I saw one near home, though I hear them often.

    Thanks for sharing mate. :)

    Rob,

Diffused light and perfect EXP make the bird's colors really pop. I don't mind the BG at all. I don't know if you realized it at the time, but the bird is framed nicely by the two drooping leaves in the BG. Excellent work!

Beautiful bird and good look-back pose. I like the setting but would prefer if the OOF leaves in the foreground and on the left were not there. I might sharpen the bird a bit less.

Now this is a multi coloured birdie, and from this angle you have captured all we need to see Rob. Apart from the tip of the tail, you have covered most of your DOF. I do however find the BG a tad busy, but we cant choose their BG can we.

Fantastic shot of a really beautiful bird. I agree however that less dof would get rid of some messy background. I would also crop tighter, most of the stuff outside the bird is non contributing.

Great pardalote image, Rob. Nice backward glancing pose.
Love the surrounding gum leaves and twigs (which add environmental context without distracting, IMHO).

Love the pose, colours and habitat. Agree on pulling back the sharpening a touch.
