    Default Northern Shoveler

Getting trough some of the older files now leaving Ireland alone for a while. This was taken about 2 years ago on a very nice late afternoon duck session. The water colour comes from a weeping willow tree.

The whites look a bit on the hot side but are well under 250. I tried bringing back some more detail although in the RAW file the whites don't look toasted either, there just doesn't seem to be any more detail there.

I cleaned up some parts of the head with the patching tool. Cropped for web presentation

C & C welcome and to all a good weekend,

    Hi Krijn

One of my favourite ducks. Excellent detail on the head with even the bill filaments showing. I like the colour of the water too from the reflection off the tree. The whites do look a bit hot but I suspect there might be no detail there to be had because the neck area is slightly blurred due to the head movement of the bird filtering water.

    Cheers

Love the feeding behavior captured with the water streaming out of the bill. Great eye contact and low angle. Regardless of the RGB values I would tone down the whites a bit.

Whites do look a little hot, and I'd tone them down as well. But luckily they are not all that overpowering this way. I love the sheen on the head and the BG is wonderful. Good work Krijn.

I agree on the whites but the detail here is stunning. Excellent portrait, great work!

Whites are hot here as well. Love what you did with the comp.

How do you get so low? Great angle. Whites have been mentioned. Nice sharpness. Like the pano! JR

I like the low angle, and as Doug stated, the water streaming out the bill puts this over the top. Excellent exposure on those greens on the head - sometimes they are difficult to get right.

Hi Krijn, fantastic shot, the up close pano is very effective.
