    Went to Buck Gardens in NJ today and found these large mallows. Had soft light and was getting a bit of subtle backlight. the backround is water.
    Nikon D300,200mm macro,F13, 1/250, ISO 400, -1/3 comp, tripod mtd

    Dave,

    I like the OOTB thinking on this one. The backlighting is very delicate and works well for this photo. Love the pink on almost black BG.

    Yummy! Beautiful backlighting - you were right to let that carry your image. I do wish it had a little bit more room at the bottom - I feel the greenery is almost cut off down there - it would have been nice to see a bit more stem.

    Wonderful DOF - f13 did well at getting plenty of detail throughout the plant and still let the water fall away into the unobtrusive BG.

    Love how i can see the veins on the petals, beautiful. Would also like to see a little more stems. :)

    Next time.....I'll bring the small scissors! Sweet light and nice unique angle!
