    Default Common Vine Snake

    Canon EOS 40D
    Sigma 70-300 APO(at 263mm) (non IS)
    f/5.6
    1/60sec.
    ISO-640
    -0.3EC
    Spot metering
    AWB
    Aperture Priority

Made this image of the semi-venomous vine snake in the fragile eco-system known as the western ghats of India. Was made in dense fog and heavy rain by holding an umbrella in one hand and the camera in the other with almost no light. I personally don't ever use flash on any wild subject so maybe a little lacking here.

All C&C welcome and appreciated. Would love to know how to improve.

    -Cheers,
    Rohan

A way to improve this is have the snake looking towards you, open mouth, showing teeth and tongue :)

Just kidding, I like as presented, not a friend of flash for wildlife either. The colors are fantastic and the diagonal line created by the snake makes a great composition. Black background emphasizes the color.
    Your determination sure paid off.

    Rohan,
Good one. Balancing camera with one hand and umbrella on the other is not an easy task. You did well. You can insert your camera and lens combo inside a polythene and cut open a hole for the lens opening. That works during rain. :D

Pretty snake. Like the contrast of colors and light and dark.
