A Black Skimmer landed on the beach. His black / white body coupled with his brilliant orange/red beak and legs provided for a neat combination of colors with the yellow flowers and vegetation already growing.
Thomas, I really like this. I do think it needs a different crop to meet its full potential. I would take a little off the top, most of the oof green off the bottom and about half of the rust colored rock on right edge. Maybe a little off the left then too, keeping the bird well left in the frame. Love that you captured this scene along with the calling action.
Good Shooting!

I agree with just about everything Brian said in cropping especially the oof bottom stuff. I do love the inclusion of the habitat on the whole. It adds a ton to the image and getting the open bill is great.
Sure is a different setting than we are used to seeing in photographs for this species! The large FG OOF patch is rather distracting, but Brian's cropping suggestion will nicely get rid of that. A bit contrasty, and I'm wondering if the image might need a bit of CW roation. Although seemingly very minor, I would highly suggest cloning out the small grass blade touching the bill :-)
