Made this under overcast conditions, These birds visit india during winter. I just love the blueish plumage of the male.

    Spec: 1/400, F 8, ISO 800.

    Canon 40D+500mm+1.4TC

Sorry this is actually the repost. I erased the OP by mistake and had already saved the edited one with less sharpness on top of the OP. kindly excuse my mistake.

I like the soft light, angle, look-back pose and BG. I would sharpen a bit less as it brings out some noise, give it a tad more room at the left and if it were mine I would clone out the OOF blade of grass in the foreground covering part of the wings.

I have only sharpened in the RAW, could not help the noise. Will surely add some space on the left as suggested. I did try cloneing out the grass, it looked too artifical or rather, my cloneing skill have not yet reached their :D.

    Thanks Again..

excellent shot. exposure at its best. found some cloning work visible at bottom left line going left to right.
also arround the breast portion there are some unusual blur and focus portion visible clearly..

at this stage after your master pieces i am habitual to see a perfect image from you bhai. so please dont mind with this findings..

Kiran, if you sharpen in the RAW I'd suggest you do it over a mask on the edges. That
means in ACR pull the mask slide all the way to the right at 80-90. That creates a mask over
most of the image except the edges. You can see the non-masked edges if you zoom in to 100%, hit alt key
then click on the slide. That way you will sharpen only the edges and not add any noise on the flat parts of the image
which BTW is the place where the noise is most visible. Sharpening is in essence adding contrast to edges so
there's no reason to sharpen anything other than edges to begin with. Let me know if it works.

Kiran, Very beautiful image and I love this species. Love the eye and the view from behind. BG is very nice as are the colors. I suggest you only sharpen the jpeg when you post for the web and had already re sized it. I usually go around the bird with the lasso and then layer via copy, sharpen the layer and then flatten the image. There are lots of different techniques though. Congrats

Nice over the shoulder's stare. I would have left a bit more space above and a bit less below.

    Hi Kiran,
Excellent eye contact and razor sharp, two suggestions:
-Clone out the OOF strands on the tail
-the blur seems a bit unusual, use a more gradual blur

    Good work, thanks for posting

Brother, this is wonderful. The eye contact is perfect and the pose regal. I agree about cloning the OOF grass. Well done and TFS.

Beautiful image Kiran, love the bird, but i feel the contrast is a tad too much, or something else is overdone, the bird plumage color looks a little different. The edges between the focused area and the BG is quite obvious.

Thank you all for your Kind words, This is a pure case of over confidence. I did not even look again at the image properly before I posted it. Thanks for pointing out. its brought my back to earth. will be more careful next time.

No mohan bhai, first mistake, off all the hundereds of pics of the montagus harrier, I pick the wrong one, then, PP was done while watching a movie thats the biggest mistake. the highlights are played with too much I feel.

Dont worry guys, will make up for such a bad post.
